Thinking of visiting the Southern Bays Historical collection between 1-4pm? You can do so at the Island Bay Community Centre (left). You can visit for a highly specific reason, out of general interest in the area, or just for a look. There is no danger of being asked to write an article until you have visited at least three times!
Here is an outline of what you will find, together with a friendly society member to assist you. Archival material requiring preservation has been passed on to the Wellington City Archive.
We are always pleased to receive any old photographs or written material that we can copy and return or we can give them a good home if they are no longer required.
There are two folders recording items about ordinary folk in the Southern Bays. We would appreciate any obituaries, eulogies or funeral leaflets of Southern Bays people that we could add to these folders. Please post them to the Secretary or drop them off at the Community Centre on the first or third Saturday of the month from 1pm - 4pm.
